Welcome to Music Haven!
Since its founding in 2006, Music Haven has become a vital organization in the New Haven community. Recognized as a top 50 after-school arts program in the country by the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities four years in a row and featured on National Public Radio and in the New York Times, Music Haven also received three Art Works grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and has been recognized as a national “arts-in-education star” in Chamber Music America magazine.
In 2009, The Arts Council of Greater New Haven presented Music Haven with a “Groundbreakers” award, stating that “the musicians of Music Haven have changed the lives of countless individuals — and the results are stunning, as at-risk children have been provided the opportunity to develop creatively, learn the value of discipline, and envision new possibilities for themselves and the world.”
NewMusic4us is an exciting international commission project for Music Haven students. Our students are learning to play brand new piano trios written especially for them by these five talented (and generous) composers: Martin Bresnick, Anna Pidgorna, Ben Wallace, Gabriel Bolaños and William Gardiner!
